Now that I’ve finally created a proper editorial calendar for myself, I’ve been spending a lot of time with February. I just recorded all of the February Horoscopes for the Astrology Channel, finished writing all of my newsletters, and recently released the elections report for February...

Let me say…

At a glance, February isn’t the most exciting month, but the more time I spend with it, the more I realize there are actually many creative ways to work with the astrological weather available to make the most out of a retrograde and stationary month like February.

Now, that’s not to say February is the time to launch your next revolutionary idea and have it be adored by everyone, though. I don’t think it’s quite the month for that. Nonetheless, with the right mindset, there’s a lot that can be done. So, in today’s electional astrology report, I’ll give you a few hints on how to have a productive February.

Mercury in Aquarius: How to Plan Your Year Ahead

Without a doubt, Mercury in Aquarius has got to be the most useful transit throughout the month.

Mercury generally does well in any of the air signs and is great for business, communication, studying, or anything that might require pen to paper, so to speak. Still, I think this February, Mercury has an even greater use.

One of the challenges of 2024 and the first few months of 2025 is that Jupiter is still currently in Gemini. This makes our ideas more likely to spin in all sorts of directions, the general conversation around ethics and law to be ambiguous at best, and luck to be found in short and multitudinous spurts instead of those big, life-transformative acts of God that we all crave.

In short, Jupiter in Gemini has been nothing short of unfocused.

Mercury and Jupiter together in Gemini might tend to further aggrandize this sense of scatteredness, but when Mercury is in a sign like Aquarius, all of that changes.

I believe this month presents many opportunities to bring cohesion and structure to some of the ideas you might’ve been spinning about over the last couple of months. In many ways, February is a great month to sit down and start planning and plotting the year ahead now that we’ve had more than enough time with Jupiter’s many not-so-great ideas in Gemini. It’s my hope that Mercury in Aquarius will help you sift through the ideas and projects that really matter. Mercury will be in Aquarius for the first two weeks of February, so use that time wisely!

Some good ways to utilize Mercury in Aquarius include creating that monthly budget spreadsheet you might’ve been putting off, checking out an office space you’ve considered renting, or even starting a course that you’ll actually finish! I also think the first two weeks of February may be a better time to set some New Year’s resolutions down on paper. Aquarius can be pretty good at engineering systems, so maybe instead of just thinking about what you want to accomplish this year, thinking about the step-by-step process might be surprisingly easier during this time.

Leo Full Moon: Going Out with a Bang

Another configuration that caught my attention this month was the Leo Full Moon.

With Mars and Saturn in Cancer and Pisces, the Moon is in a condition that some like to call "cleansed" while she’s in Leo. This means it’s almost like the Moon can’t see anything bad or impeding her way at an immediate glance.

This could represent you being neglectful of your problems, yes, but it can also be great for those moments when we need the adrenaline to calm the fuck down. Since Full Moons can also be a time of culminations and potentially even endings, this can be a great lunation for ending things on a good note. There’s even a time leading up to the lunation when the Moon is feeling especially bright and shiny, which can be very supportive of good closure.

February Electional Astrology Summary

Electional Astrology Report Cover

Overall, the elections available in February seem to point to this month being one of planning ahead and wrapping up some loose ends from 2024. Although that’s so obvious and commonplace that I don’t think I even needed astrology to find that out.

Still, what the astrology does clarify is that we’re still not quite out of the weeds just yet. With Mars and Jupiter stationing direct this month and Venus and Mercury going retrograde, it’s very wise to take a measured and slow pace to avoid having to do more work than you signed up for. Like I mentioned earlier, the supportive astrology mostly rests within the first two weeks of the month, so remember to plan accordingly and have some Plan Bs in preparation for one last wave of retrogrades, and you’ll be solid!
