Aries Ingress 2025: The Birth Chart of the New Year

Updated: Mar 19

A simulation of the Aries Ingress

Not every Zodiacal Season is the same. If you've been following my seasonal reports, you know that at the beginning of each season, we examine the chart of when the Sun first enters a zodiac sign to determine which transits are most important for us to keep an eye on globally. However, because the Aries Ingress marks the beginning of our astrological year, this chart not only shows us how our first month is going to unfold but also how the whole year is likely to pan out.

I'll be honest with you—astrology, coupled with common sense, points to a pretty rough year globally. In writing this report, I had to take a step back to tune out the news and the insights of the ancients on configurations like those we find in this chart. And I'm sure you’ve experienced something similar whenever you tune in to an astrology forecast or turn on the news.

I'm not trying to be an alarmist; if you've read any of my content or ever had a reading with me, you know I tend to view the world with a bit of rose-tinted optimism. But this was one of those big "what the fuck am I going to write about" moments. Still, taking some time away has helped me find silver linings, which I hope to share with you.

In this report, we'll do things a little differently. I will still break down some of the major aspects of this year's chart, but I'll spend much more time examining each ruling planet to offer tips on how to navigate a challenging global year—based on what your ruling planet is up to at the start of the year.

As you read on, I want to reassure you that while the chart for the globe may seem a little rough, your personal chart could be doing great. It's easy to forget that ease and difficulty, good and bad, gain and loss, are not mutually exclusive—you can, in fact, experience both simultaneously. So, I invite you to read this report not just to find out what’s going to happen with the world, but to discover how you can shape it with the tools available to you.

Venus Retrograde but for the Whole Year

The Astrology Chart for the Aries Ingress of 2025 showing Taurus Rising

If you read last month's report, you'll notice that not much has changed since then. In this year's chart, we still have Taurus Rising, which continues to emphasize Venus in Aries. However, whereas last month Venus was in her own terms—meaning she had more control over how things are run—this time around she is retrograde, combust, and outside her terms. Kinda rough...

This could mean that challenges around peacemaking, collaboration, and partnerships will be major topics worldwide this year. Whereas Pisces season showed that our near future promised a certain degree of resolution for our immediate needs, Aries season suggests that some of our larger needs may still remain unaddressed—especially considering that Venus is invisible in the crepuscular sky when she is as close to the Sun as she is.

But the question is: what exactly are those needs?

To discern these, one of the first steps we can take is to consider what Venus represents: entertainment, leisurely days, luxury goods, and anything that facilitates an embodied and pleasurable experience of the world. These areas could be at risk given this chart.

That DOES NOT mean we'll have a year without fun. Given that Aries is a survivalist sign and Mars is slightly better suited to steer our year than Venus, this may indicate that our focus will shift toward the basics rather than the refined. However, because the Moon in this chart (which represents the average population) is moving from a trine to Venus toward a trine with Mercury—the planet of communication—it's unlikely that people will simply give up on their refined desires in silence. Instead, the unrest caused by a lack of luxury may grow louder as the year advances.

Another thing to consider is that Mercury and Venus oversee areas of our global chart related to employment and finances. This could indicate that some of the needs mentioned earlier are connected to work-related challenges for those in service positions, such as law, consulting, and entertainment.

Not All is Lost: Jupiter in Gemini Saves the Day?

Still, not everything is a bummer. Despite Venus being in a troubled spot, there's something peculiar happening between her and Jupiter: these two planets are exchanging terms.

I like to conceptualize this exchange as two or more areas of a chart coming to an agreement that allows both to mutually benefit and flourish. What's interesting is that Jupiter represents financial aid and community effort.

This could mean that despite potential employment difficulties, the globe might benefit from the assistance of Jovial figures such as philanthropists, religious and spiritual leaders, and especially finance scholars, given that Jupiter is in Gemini.

Black book cover with bold white and blue text: "Techno Feudalism: What Killed Capitalism" by Yanis Varoufakis. Background has wavy lines.

Looking at this chart reminded me of Yanis Varoufakis’s work, Techno Feudalism: What Killed Capitalism. His work has gained a lot of popularity lately, offering both an excellent introduction to economics and insights into how our current world handles it—along with predictions and tips for navigating the many changes we’re experiencing. If the words "financial and employment difficulties" spook you right now, I'd highly recommend checking out this book, as Varoufakis is far better equipped to address those concerns than I am.

Still, what does that have to do with the exchange of terms?

To me, this exchange could signal that Jupiter and Venus—the two planets of good fortune in astrology—are only able to help us if we're willing to find a compromise between their signs. With Jupiter in Gemini, we may need to quickly learn and adapt to a rapidly changing world. This might require you to learn about topics you might not be particularly excited about, such as economics and geopolitics, but it's precisely that "boring" information that might soothe some of Venus's troubles. What Venus may be asking, however, is something we've already discussed in these reports: she wants you to think about YOU FIRST. In other words, while staying informed is vital, it's equally important to put your own well-being first, which at times may mean putting a book down, but never putting your head in the sand.

A Return to Pisces & Getting Out of the 12th House

Now, while individualism is definitely one of the ingredients for a successful 2025, we don't want to get carried away and shut everyone out either. For all intents and purposes, a pinch of "me-first" goes a long way this year.

The reason I say this is that the story between Venus and Jupiter is not as simple as a mere term exchange. If we remember that Venus is retrograding back to Pisces, Jupiter’s own sign, things suddenly become much more interesting. This suggests that much of the turmoil and upheaval this year may be intended to lead us back to the place of Venus's exaltation: Pisces—a sign that represents empathy, union, and inclusivity. In fact, despite being in the 12th sign from Taurus, Venus still sits in the 11th house of this chart, which is also ruled by Jupiter.

The 11th house in astrology is the realm of networks, hopes, dreams, allies, and friendships.

To me, this is one of the saving graces of the year's chart. It emphasizes that much of this hardship may bring people together to fight a common enemy. Whoever or whatever that enemy is is not necessarily my place to define, but I can say that while Venus might be troubled, she's certainly not alone in her fight—and neither do you have to be. Simply put, this might mean not only prioritizing your own needs but also those of your inner circle and immediate community. Your community may be scattered and just as confused as you are—thanks to Jupiter in Gemini—but together, your resources are much larger than you might realize.

Aries Ingress Horoscopes for Your Ruling Planet

As I mentioned earlier, we'll be zooming out a bit for this week's featured horoscope. If you'd like to know what this specific week has in store for you, you can tune in to my weekly video horoscope, where I'll share all the details you need to know.

Because this horoscope has a broader scope, I also feel the need to provide a brief tutorial on how to read it so that it can be most useful to you.

One way to work with the Aries Ingress Chart is to think of it as a roll call. Each of our seven traditional planets represents a specific demographic along with the signs they rule. As I provide the report for each planetary sphere, I'll also mention some of the types of people who might be affected by that planet's configuration, in addition to the signs.

For example, Saturn is said to rule over Capricorn and Aquarius, but in the mundane chart, Saturn also represents farmers, government officials, the elderly, and more. This means that even if you're not a Capricorn or Aquarius, if you are in your later stages of life, or are an official of some sort, the Saturn horoscope might be relevant to you. So, I'd recommend reading all the horoscopes that resonate with you. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out via the chat box below.

With that, let's look at some planets!

The Moon: Cancer Rising, The Average Populace, Caretakers, Women in Leadership

The Moon is in a somewhat challenging position this year. It occupies a space that is staunchly focused on money—especially money that you either owe or are owed. This can be a bit fear-inducing, particularly since the Moon is peregrine in Sagittarius, making it somewhat scattered and perhaps even a bit over-optimistic (unable to see how dire circumstances are).

Still, the fact that Jupiter is opposing the Moon means that he is able to cater to some of her needs. If you want to understand these dynamics better, I'd recommend tuning in to Thursday's horoscope for this week. Overall, this may be a year when those under the influence of the Moon struggle to find stability, but ultimately, through delays and difficulty, they may receive the financial aid they seek.

An important hint lies in the aspects the Moon will form before she meets with Jupiter. On her way to Jove, the Moon will form trines with both Venus and Mercury—hinting that this is a year when lunar individuals must be acquainted with the old saying: "close mouths don't get fed." So speak up, and if no one hears you, speak louder—eventually, someone will.

Mercury: Gemini & Virgo Rising, Business People, Essential Workers, Communicators

Like Venus, Mercury is not in the best condition in this year's chart, which could indicate a slightly challenging year for business and finances, as mentioned earlier.

One hint at the source of this difficulty is that Mercury is out of sect. This means that Mercury is in a more receptive phase, contrasting with Aries' push for achievement and growth. For those influenced by Mercury, this could signal that it's important to gauge your efforts. While the world might be telling you it's time to go big, it might be wise to listen to your intuition if it advises otherwise.

The retrograde could also suggest that this is a year for refining your processes before making any big, innovative strides. In simple terms, it's a good year for prioritizing procedures over profit. Considering that the Moon is so close to your ruling planet in this year's chart, smooth, effective operations are likely to catch the attention you need. You may find that word of mouth gets you a much bigger bang for your buck than a loud billboard or an elaborate marketing strategy.

Venus: Taurus & Libra Rising, Entertainers, Counselors, Artists & Artisans

As I mentioned earlier, Venus's condition in this year's chart warrants a degree of caution around artistic professions. However, before you dismiss your dreams of pursuing an artistic field, note that the situation is more complex than a simple binary of good or bad.

While Venus in Aries may not favor refined and luxury goods, she excels at inspiring a bit of a punk spirit among her children. With that in mind, this can be a great year for artists who don't feel the need to pander to what's currently considered "in fashion" or stereotypically beautiful. Those who challenge our current understanding of beauty might really thrive in this environment—especially if your work features a strong call to action or, better yet, invites others to embrace a DIY spirit, which is likely to resonate with people this year.

The Sun: Leo Rising, Leaders, Public Figures & Influencers

The Sun is always exalted during the Aries Ingress, but that doesn't guarantee an easy year for those under its influence—especially this time around.

This is because the Sun is closely conjunct Neptune at the beginning of the astrological year, casting a bit of fog around the eyes of our Solar Leaders. This can make you prone to making impactful decisions without a clear understanding of what's required. If you're in a position of leadership, this serves as a warning to be extremely cautious with your orders and decisions.

The Sun occupies a place in the chart that straddles the line between allies and enemies, suggesting that the potential for the consequences of your actions to garner support is matched by your ability to attract competitors and opposers. Proceed with care!

Mars: Aries & Scorpio Rising, Laborers, Soldiers & Sportspeople

If you've been keeping up with Mars, you're likely familiar with the long Mars Retrograde saga we've been discussing between Cancer and Leo.

The bad news is that some of that story is imprinted in this year's chart, further prolonging developments from the past six months. The good news, however, is that Mars is in a much better stage—moving forward rather than backward.

One way to interpret this is that it could be a year for the labor force to slowly regain stability despite lingering challenges. Mars is also in a part of the chart that deals with routine and everyday affairs, which could indicate that the biggest challenge in the martial sphere is getting back up to speed after a period of slowness and decline. Mars's position also suggests that prioritizing basic needs over chasing the big, shiny prize could save a lot of needless frustration.

Jupiter: Sagittarius & Pisces Rising, Spiritualist, Scholars, Philanthropists

Out of all the planets, Jupiter is probably in the best shape. It occupies an area of the chart focused on money and livelihood, and despite sharing in some of the resource struggles faced by other planets, those influenced by Jupiter seem to have enough of their own reserves to get through the year.

The challenge is that with everyone in such a troubled situation, all eyes turn to those in a better position to assist—especially considering that Jupiter will also enter Cancer this year and be exalted for most of 2025 and part of 2026. This could mean that a great sense of responsibility falls on you. Still, the ambiguity presented by Jupiter being in Gemini suggests that extending a helping hand is somewhat optional for the Jovials. The question is: will you be able to bear the weight of denying aid when your conscience calls for it?

Saturn: Capricorn & Aquarius Rising, Government Officials, Farmers, The Elderly

Saturn's confusing journey through Pisces is soon coming to an end. This means that this year is the last of a streak of foggy decision-making and nebulous plans that seem to dissolve at your every touch.

Still, even though this is the final chapter, the overall book remains the same, so a little more patience will be required to materialize real growth and a solid game plan. The good news is that Saturn appears to be supported by Mars, the planet that stands for fearless action. This could mean that to break out of this slump, you'll need to rip off a couple of bandaids and row through the foggy Piscean landscape until you find solid ground.

While I know that hearing there's yet another year like this can test your patience, rest assured that there is indeed another sign after Pisces—and this year, you'll have the fuel to sustain your journey, something that seemed absent in previous years.
